Small Groups

The best churches of today excel at being warm and welcoming. Sanctuaries are clean and pristine, and people greet you at the door with a smile. Granted, this could also describe a bank. Or a well-run restaurant. Instead of church as just being a nice place to go, what if it was the place where your friends are? Small groups aims to establish and deepen relationships, to make Immanuel from being a friendly church, to a friend making church.

Immanuel also has an amazing problem: we have too many people for anyone to know everyone! This is a way for members to find their own corner, a group of people that they intersect with regularly.

Finally, small groups serve as a friend network where people help hold each other accountable. A live coal by itself will not glow for long, but a group of them together can outlast the coldest nights. They aid Christians to live in faith together, lifting each other up in their time of need.

New Small Group April 27 - May 23

We are all busy. Some of us can’t remember the last time we rested or even had free time. Our busyness can feel productive but it is a toxic distraction, sapping our spiritual, physical, and emotional vitality. It may seem like we have no choice but to live at a frantic pace, but God has a better path for us.

Join pastor and author John Mark Comer in this five-part series as he addresses one of the greatest threats to our spiritual lives: hurry. Instead of allowing our calendars and screens to control our lives, Jesus offers us a new rhythm of life, overflowing with grace, peace and beauty.
