Small Groups
The best churches of today excel at being warm and welcoming. Sanctuaries are clean and pristine, and people greet you at the door with a smile. Granted, this could also describe a bank. Or a well-run restaurant. Instead of church as just being a nice place to go, what if it was the place where your friends are? Small groups aims to establish and deepen relationships, to make Immanuel from being a friendly church, to a friend making church.
Immanuel also has an amazing problem: we have too many people for anyone to know everyone! This is a way for members to find their own corner, a group of people that they intersect with regularly.
Finally, small groups serve as a friend network where people help hold each other accountable. A live coal by itself will not glow for long, but a group of them together can outlast the coldest nights. They aid Christians to live in faith together, lifting each other up in their time of need.
Next Small Group: The Prodigal God
Prodigal = spending money or resources freely and recklessly; wastefully extravagant.
This six-session series will take a look at Jesus' parable in Luke 15:11-32, and explore how God is wastefully extravagant to all people.
Guidebooks will be available Jan. 5 & 12 for $10. The series will continue weekly for 6 weeks, concluding the week of Feb 16.
