Baptism

Here at Immanuel we believe that Baptism is:

    Commanded by God (Matthew 28:19)
Entering the Family of Believers (Ephesians 4:4-6)
A Clear Conscience toward God (1 Peter 3:21)

As Followers of Jesus, we are instructed in Matthew 28 to "Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you..."

If we examine this message, we see that God has called us as believers and followers of Jesus to first make disciples. Here at Immanuel we believe in the power of discipleship, and offer multiple ways to grow not only in your knowledge of God, but the literal application of your beliefs...which is maturity in Christ.

According to the passage above, baptism is part of that discipleship process. We believe that God calls us to Baptize Followers of Jesus at any age as modeled in Acts 16:31-33.

31 They replied, "Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved--you and your household." 32 Then they spoke the word of the Lord to him and to all the others in his house. 33 At that hour of the night the jailer took them and washed their wounds; then immediately he and all his family were baptized.
